Hauptbeschreibung
This book originated from the idea to have a small present to give to friends, relatives and acquaintances on travels all over the world, which is personal and yet typically Austrian. What would be more appropriate than a book on Austrian cuisine!
Emerging under the influence of the former crown lands, the recipes are like a journey through the history of European culture – from Tafelspitz via Wiener Schnitzel to Kaiserschmarrn. Herta Margarete Habsburg-Lothringen has compiled some of her favourite recipes as well as traditional dishes from her family cookbook, which has evolved over decades if not centuries, and has enriched this book with legends, stories, narratives and personal photos.

Herta Margarete Habsburg-Lothringen was born in Austria, and has for many years been a very active and successful entrepreneur, who takes part in a great number of social projects. In the year 2000, she launched the private initiative »Die Flamme des Friedens – Flame of Peace«, and is the founder and president of the Association for the Furtherance of Peace, which is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-religious association to promote peacemaking measures and persons. Further, she is also involved in the protection of animals, environment and nature, and supports charitable projects and crisis aid actions. She has already received many awards for both her professional and private commitments, for example the »Cross of Merit in Gold« from the Republic of Austria, and the »President’s Volunteer Service Award«, from the President of the United States.
